What's your point? We were talking about American troops; now your 
bringing up commercial convoys and money. (Should we have great sympathy 
for the Saudis just because they paid for a big chunk of the Gulf War?) 
BTW, only (not a word I like to use when talking about the loss of 
someone's life) about 150 Merchant Marine died prior to Dec7. At the 
same time, Roosevelt tried to drive such a hard bargain with Churchill 
for surplus US destroyers that Churchill turned it down flat.
