Hi
Ernie,

the RT list for a couple of years for similar reasons to what you
described.
However, time has given me the perspective to know
that you are completely right, that in public forums we
should
expect to be belittled for everything we say
regardless of its intent or value. But at the same time there will also
be those lurking who never respond who see your post, appreciate it, and
benefit from it. I guess it is just like the market where we can't just
throw trades out there without expecting the prospect that at least half
of the market will disagree with us. Upon my return I also immediately
remembered people like Ira and Bob and wondered where I had been all this
time. I believe that if the smartest and best trader in the world agreed
to give seminars and give away all that he knew for free that most of the
recipients would not value what they had received for free, would not do
the work to understand it, and would turn on and attack their benefactor.
This appears to be to just be how people are. If we can accept that and
post for the few people that we do reach, regardless of whether we
receive their acknowledgement or not, life can be a whole lot easier.

Just an outlook that works for me.

Bob,

I must apologize to you. I remember the last scathing you took. I thought it was a bit unfair. If I had realized it was you I would have kept my mouth shut. It's just that I am tired of some of the persons here who act as if they have all of the answers yet all they provide are criticism with veiled hints.

Heck I am not even the Ernie to whom this thread was even initially directed toward, but the other Ernie is working hard at his system and tossed a little bit of it out there for some comment and he was criticized.

I have all but stopped posting here because even when I have made dead accurate forecasts I have been belittled. Who needs it.

Anyway I am sincerely sorry for responding to your post the way that I did. One of those wrong place at the right time kinda things.

I should also add that I was not criticizing either.  And I have attempted to share ideas on both methods and the trading of them on this forum and others.  However since I don't use squiggly lines or try to predict what the market is going to do my ideas are generally pooh pooh'd on the premise that you can't trade using just price or without predicting.

Or they discovered or knew that I offered a service which then branded me as being one step above a child molester and the ideas were then discredited on that premise.  Part of a New Year's resolution was to discontinue offering any kind of services so I'm not in violation of any forum protocols here.

Trading for me has been a 3 step process - Learn to see the trades.....Take the trades....Manage the trades, and each step is progressively harder and much less cerebral.  It's also been my experience that the first step is by far the easiest since markets only have two modes - trend and congestion, and within a trend there can be congestion periods which are just continuation patterns.  I have little interest in congestion periods but absolutely love and thrive on trending periods (like today on the indexes).  But getting from step 1 to being proficient at step 3 is one heck of a journey.

Perhaps if those of you who claim that making money in the markets is so SIMPLE would merely enlighten those who are trying to "re-invent" the wheel, as opposed to offering only criticism, then maybe you would have the answer to your own question.

One who has no wheel must either walk or make his own.

That sounds good but the markets have been moving the same way since there have been markets.  If you look at "bare" charts from 50+ years ago (any market) and compare them to recent charts you couldn't tell them apart.  The only thing that changes is volatility/liquidity.

What never seems to change though is the endless quest to make the simple complicated, along with the failure to recognize the distinction between methods & trading them.
