As I recall from seeing previous posts you use an eod system? If so
isn't it be based on the opening and closing times of the contract
using the OHLC with your trading day beginning at 3:45PM CT except
for sunday afternoons and end at 3:15PM CT the following weekday? Or
are you using SP or ND day sessions data only and are trying to adapt
them to the minis. I place most of my position trading entry orders
at about 3:45 PM. these are stop orders(breakout type systems). I am
unprotected if they are hit during the night, although I may check my
screen once or maybe twice during bathroom calls. The entries are
usually a breakout above or below a percentage of the previous day's
range and unless majorly event driven this doesn't become a problem.
It can though, I was'nt long going into Sept 11 2001,TG. I place my
preliminary stop losses and target(limit orders ) after entry has
hit, of course this requires monitoring during the day. If I'm in a
position, my signals are generated after 3:15PM and my stop loss and
limit orders placed by 3:45 PM thus I am protected(yes I know not
entirely; futures trading involves risk **) for the overnight. By the
way you're safe (or helpless,don't worry at 3AM Saturdays) from Fri.
afternoon til Sun. afternoon at 5:30 CT.
This is my methodology FWIW. Hope I've helped. We're always exposed
to some risk. BTW 90% of the time my orders are not hit over night.
