I have bought LEAPS on MIR and SLR on the last 2 down legs. Both
sectors have a reasonable value story behind them, but i may be
wrong about the particular companies.
MIR is in the energy business. Energy isn't going away. The
alerts we've been having here in CA lately lead me to believe
there really is a lack of surplus capacity. But MIR has investor
lawsuits, financing problems and possible actions by states and
FERC that will have unknown impact.
SLR is in the electronic assembly outsourcing business. I believe
that when activity picks up again companies will outsource rather
than ramp up internally. This should be good for the sector. But
SLR has a lot of debt and business isn't good right now.
An Elliott guy I semi trust predicts a significant INDU down wave
b4 Oct. and that I personally believe there is at least 1 more
vicious down leg that brings the INDU more into line with the NDX
(not saying NDX low is in!!!) before this is all over.
Perhaps buying now is too early?
regards,
