Right now, I'm working on becoming a multivariate regressioner and basic
quanter. I've written a fair amount of C++ code to allow me to use
multivariate regression to find anomalies in large amounts of data. But I
still have a ways to go so I don't actively trade currently.

Sarcasm? You bet. I'm good at it and I like things that I'm good at.
Sorry. Some on the list have a similar sick form of humor and get a chuckle
out of it. Others don't. Oh well.

I do offer up tidbits here and there when I can. A few days ago, I told a
guy on the omega list to stop defragging his hard drive so much to see if
that would clear up his disk problems. Just today I posted something that I
thought would help a newbie who was working with neural nets on the ATS
list. There is a worthwhile discussion going on there regarding nets. It's
an abstract discussion and not REAL informative but everyone participating
in it is either intellectually interested in learning or willing to offer
experience. And here's the important part (in my not so humble opinion):
people who work at it can make money trading with neural nets and they can
do it without forking over a lot of dough to some vendor. I have yet to see
anyone on that list talk about their feelings.

Ideally, people would take a challenge. Remeber about 6 months ago when
John Lothian made a long post on the new combination contracts that the CBOT
(or was it the CME) was bringing out. I strongly disagreed with his
position. And I posted 2 very strong and very long disagreements with him.
And typical Kent, there was some bruising sarcasm in there. John didn't get
his feelings hurt. He defended his position. I still disagreed with him,
but I respect him more for taking me head on. And it says a lot about his
position that he did put up an actual defense. And here's the real, real
important part: the list is better for having had an opposing view. But the
people who couldn't get past my sarcasm didn't get the opposing view. So
are they better or worse off?

And there are a lot of EW'ers and Gann'ers on the list who I never challenge
and probably never will. Because I think they are putting honest efforts
into their work and they are willing to go toe-to-toe with people who
challenge them. There are vendors on this list who sell stuff but who I
have never questioned. Because they charge reasonable prices for their work
and don't make over-arching claims. And yes, it's my opinion.

And last but not least, I'm not Mark. Mark prefers AK-47's. I prefer
AR-15's. Mark has Cray's. I have 8 Dell Precision 410 workstations. As
for my defense of him, he has more to say than tossing out a few support and
resistance points. Unfortunately, he has to take on the target rich
opportunities (EW, Gann, Fibs, etc.) first and the people who believe in
those techniques can't just let it pass. I have 10 years of C++ experience.
I have near guru level command of that language and obviously I think it is
a great language. Yet I don't feel the need to launch on anyone who has
something negative to say about it. Personally, I think Mark (and anyone
else for that matter) was doing newbies a favor by turning them away from
things that don't work. And when someone posts something on this list like
"Mars is going into retrograde hyperbolic conjunctivitis with Andromeda" and
doesn't give the slightest clue what that means, that is TOTAL BS. And
someone should call them on it. I do when I feel like it. Mark did. So do
a few other people. And if the person making the call can't take a
challenge, maybe the call wasn't worth the electrons it took to make it.
And their reaction to the challenge speaks volumes.

Jeff made a good point about seeing things in water stains. What was the
response? "Don't mess with my religion." Who would you rather have on the
list?

Kent

Kent,
Sorry you are offended, but so tired of what appears as attempt to wreck,
what was a good list.

Yep I am a EW-er and proud of it so throw your barb's. It helps in what I
do and I amsorry you can't grasp the concept with all it's details, but it
does take some time and some study. What are you "per se", I have noticed
you have never offered that up, just basically sarcasm, maybe a Sarcasm-er?

>From your past posts, it could be easily be considered you are not a fan of
anyone on the list . . . so no sweat here if you are "offended"? You have
quickly rose as a MB protector not only now but in the past, yet profess to
have little association with him . . .right I got it.
We are not fools . . . to not see what we see . . and I am not the only one
. . .

Must be about time to trash any TA technique, market opinions . . . yawn?
