Hi Mr. Cappello,
> 2.You say you increased contracts with each $50,000 increase in
equity. That would mean that you blindly started this system in
Dec '00 and made $59,000. You thus would be trading 2 contracts by
Jan '01 without many people even knowing this site existed.
Actually the way it was. I was introduced to trading at Junior
College by a room mate, who's father is a trader. He dad furnished
her a computer to do her studies on and it was loaded with
TradeStation (a popular program at the time) as well as more boring
stuff Word, Excel and the like. For a long time I hung out on several
trading chat rooms, until I discovered a group for users of TS.
Admitted looking back I must have seemed pretty foolish and naive to
many in that group. But I was not afraid to tango with anyone, feeling
I would rise to any occasion. From that group I discovered another
called Systems or Management something where I met other very helpful
female traders. To try an make a long story short now.
I knew about several systems off that list prior to any publication. I
figured out it would be allot of work to participate on any level and
a girl has social responsibilities to tend to. I figured that just
about anyone who was on that list who threw out anything, pretty much
had to have something worth while. Because it was a tough place to
post anything without getting your head chopped off, lady or not.
Promise trying to make this as short as possible. I don't typically
just follow anything blindly, though it might be argued that to some
small percentage this case "it was true". When the site went up it
originally was running on the futures, not that it matters. Other
than that numbers (to me) seem more sedate now than what I actually
experienced first trading it.
I started out using a broker who I met off the TS users group, and
that was a big mistake. That mistake made me a boat load of money,
because I opened an account with fifty thousand dollars in it. That
was what I was told by the broker would be "more" than sufficient to
trade with. I started out trading one lot and using profits gained of
twenty thousand dollars I added two more contracts to my trading.
Since I was never contacted by my supposed broker I never knew I was
trading to large for my account size. I figured now every ten thousand
dollars I gained I would add another and another and so on.
Little did I know that my fun was going to be upset by the brokers
home office. Who of all the nerve demanded I deposit with them
another one hundred thousand dollars that my folks were not about to
do in spite of the gains I had made. It was a good thing this all
happened though, because my parents never believed that I made any
money until I was forced to close the account and have the monies
wired to my personal bank account. By now my original sum was up
over one hundred percent.
I found another broker at a very large firm who my fathers employees
retirement accounts are at. My dad being all excited, let me keep the
profits I made to buy a car and refunded a new account with one
hundred and fifty thousand dollars. I instructed the broker to trade
3 contracts, and shortly latter I had to add some monies (about forty
five thousand dollars) to maintain the size being traded due to a
drawdown margin thingy.
So from there on the firm has been strait in trading my account
which brings me to the next level of investing in stocks for the
longer term, with a small portion of capital. Beats opening a
restaurant?
> By Mar '01 you would be trading 3 contracts. By May '01 you would
have been trading 4 contracts. And by Oct '01 you would be trading >
contracts.
> In hindsight to date, these are all excellent decisions. But are
you for real to have just jumped into this without watching it first?
I examined my possibilities and made a educated decision to take a
calculated risk. Besides, I needed a new car desperately and driving
around mom's four door crap brown diesel Mercedes Benz is not
conducive to a girl's panache.
> I mean you no disrespect but just seek some honest answers as to
how anyone could have the knowledge and wherewithall to have
accomplished what you say.
Admittedly, I may have had some breaks. But I made the decision to do
this and I took the risk. I feel I have paid my dues. From what I
see, many people are thinking too hard and will not just let it
happen. I wish each one a good night, yes Friday and no place to go.
thanks, tradergirl
PS Anyone here know about, if the TS users group is still around?
Are there other (higher risk) stock investment groups around?
