is at least one person on this list that promotes his business via this list. He
is overt and very clever the way he does it and no one seems to complain, this
includes Bob. I think his promotion of his business comes much closer to
violating the spirit of the rules than does a discussion of other systems such
as the one prompted by John’s post.

trading systems and their value are appropriate for this forum, and I don’t think
they constitute “advertising” above and beyond some of the advertising that
already takes place.

I am well aware that this is not up for vote. On the other hand
member input is important. As an individual who has supplied system
vendor info and requested the same in the past, I believe the
Committee position should be reconsidered.
I learned and offered much regarding such mechanical systems.I
sponsor nor promote any but rather provide info requested and also
pose questions about member knowledge of systems. The last one I
posted was re. Grandmill and I received a private reply since there
seemed little general knowledge about it. The reply was helpful.
The above is a far cry from "promoting for one's own purposes".

How exactly does the committee reflect the majority of the list
member's
opinions? Is there some polling thing I am not aware of? Was
there
an
election held? What is the term of office?
That statement is a boldfaced lie as far as I am concerned.
There is a difference between abuse of the list for commercial
interests and
a discussion of commercial interests. And to force those discussions
to
private channels, as opposed to in the light of day for all to see,
is wrong
on multiple accounts.
Vigorous public discussion, with proper disclosure of any conflicts
of
interest, should be encouraged in the best interests of the group
regardless
of the member's personal or professional status.
