Here is the general rule of thumb for Irc related attacks on your
computer. If you don't accept files from anyone on line, you will not be
infected with anything. Mostly, those invading your machine need to get an
exploit on the machine so they can control and access it. Therefore, you
don't accept file transfers, you don't have such problems. Your reference
to "nukes" is slang for what I described in my other post and while it can
be irritating to be disconnected, it doesn't harm your computer and you are
not likely to be a target. On othernet, there are few channels .. maybe 50
or so and around 1700 users .. on Undernet, there are 22,000 channels and
around 100,000 users at peak hours so picking any individual or channel out
for abuse isn't normally random.
