[RT] Superficiality at Work

Hi,

Superficiality due to Being Full
------------------------------------------

Imagine you win a competition and the first is a new car.

You have a car, you like it, you even love it. You do not want another
car so you refuse the prize.

How ungrateful many would say.

Others might suggest you accept the prize, sell it and use the money for
things you do want or need.

Still others in you family might say, I want a car so I can go out to work
- please accept the prize for me.

Friends might persuade you to accept the car and give it to a local
childrens' charity.

So, when the prize or gift is a physical object, we refuse because we are
full of physical objects, or short-sighted, or inconsiderate of our family,
or just uncharitable.

When we are full of ideas, similar superficiality born of being full, this
time of ideas, also makes acceptance difficult. For we might have to
relinquish our existing ideas, God forbid, to take in new ones.

But others do not point out our superficiality so often when mere ideas are
involved.

Perhaps because some others value things more than ideas or perhaps others
are often equally full of their own ideas and so share our lack of grace.

Superficiality due to Shallowness
---------------------------------------------

Again we win a prize of a car.

It is blue with red spots. We reject it as being the wrong sort of colour.

If new ideas come wrapped in what seems:

	-	arrogance,
	-	not the expected chat style,
	-	not to answer a question,

then it is the wrong colour and we reject it.

How shallow, how short-sighted, how uncharitable.

Often we see arrogance where there is just a situation of "If I said that I
would be arrogant".

The perception of arrogance may be a true reflection of reality or a
projection of our status on to the person we perceive as arrogant.

If we cannot get past (our perception of) the appearance of where an idea
is coming from, and so ignore the idea - more fool us.

May your potential be realised, Ric.
