I agree,

I have worked with Van Tharp and Ruth Barrons Roosevelt.

Ruth's stuff while less academically polished than Van's has her mark as
A Trader as well which helps a lot.

Dan:

When you say NLP/self hypnosis/hypnosis guru, the main name that comes to my
mind is Ruth Barrons Roosevelt. She primarly works with traders - and
trades some herself - and has written a couple of books including
Exceptional Trading: The Mind Game. In addition, she has a home audio
course known as Power Trading for Power Profits.

I first got interested in her a couple of years ago after reading the above
book. I purchased the audio tape set (10 tape set broke down into various
sections like Trading Principles, Defusing the Negative Past, Stress Free
Trading, etc.) along with an included 1 hour phone consultation with an
additional tape that she prepared from that.

Overall, the book and tapes were benefical in getting past an occasional
mental problem of pulling the trigger after being stopped out a few times in
a row on various trading setups - then missing the next one that was
consistent with the "odds" and/or sometimes waiting to long for entry and
"chasing".

I must tell you that while I think it was benefical, it is not a magic
bullet that will automatically "take hold" after listening to a few tapes.
When I sent out a request a couple of years ago on RT about the tape
program - most peoples take was similar. In my opinion, if the person you
are looking to interview in regards to NLP does not have trading experience,
and has not worked with traders of various ilk (i.e. discretionary, system,
day, swing, etc.), they are going to have such a high learning curve it
probably is not worth it.

My suggestion would be to read a trading psychology book that is NLP
oriented, maybe purchase and work with an audio homestudy program, then if
you think that type of work is beneficial to you/trading then look for an
experienced trading coach.

Best regards,

Ed Larson
