WASHINGTON, Sept 21 (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on
Friday
approved a $15 billion bailout plan for the nation's
airlines
that were sent reeling by attacks last week which used
hijacked
airliners to strike buildings in New York and
Washington.
The relief plan includes $5 billion in cash aid,
$10
billion in loan guarantees, plus provisions to limit
the
airlines' liability for the crashes and to maintain
their
insurance
coverage.
Hijackers crashed two airplanes into New York's World
Trade
Center and another into the Pentagon, closing
commercial
aviation for two days, causing the introduction of costly
new
security measures and leaving many people too frightened
to
fly.
A fourth airliner crashed in rural
Pennsylvania.
