With broad participation by retail investors, the stock market is no longer
a matter of trading on growth or value or whatever reason you might want to
ascribe to it.

It's now all a game. A great big game of psychological warfare, run by The
Street and the big monied traders.

Their tools? Greed and fear. Want to drive the markets up? Pump up stocks
and claim that we're entered a "new economy" which easily justifies the high
P/Es. Greedy retail investors fall all over themselves to get at these
stocks which you sell at a premium price. Drooling greed has the suckers
lining up.

Want to pick up stocks for cheap? Just talk about capitulation and wave
lots of bad news in their faces and the fools will sell out for pennies.
Fear has them trembling in their boots and begging you to take these dogs
off their hands.

It's all psychology. Forget the charts and fundementals because these
aren't what buys and sells. People buy and sell stocks and when you can
manipulate sentiment, you have it made.
