It is not virus scanning software that prevents unintended mailings, it is a
reliable FIREWALL, that will not allow the email program to dial out or send
prohibited mail without your specific permission. The virus sender only has
to change the virus code by a line to get past the last antivirus update.
The FIREWALL is the tool that prevents unintended mailings. The FIREWALL
also prevents the miscreants from reading your IP address, so that they
cannot send mail with your computer's IP from other computers.
This is all basic stuff. The FIREWALL is what protects the other users on
the net.
Oh, did I mention that it is necessary to have a good FIREWALL?
