I've used internet exclusively for 3+ years with futures and longer with
stocks. Bottom line is pay for a broker with strong phone support!!! I have
used LFG (futures) for years and I could cut my commissions by 2/3 switching
to cheapest broker but LFG always picks up the phone when my internet
connection or software breaks and I can always get my order taken care off
.. WELL WORTH THE FEW DOLLARS EXTRA!! Also, I always have stops in the
market when I have a position (never know when the connection might break)
and I also have exit orders working when appropriate ... in short I assume
that I will lose my ability to trade electronically any time I have a
position working. Thus the importance of knowing I can reach a phone broker
to cancel or cancel/replace my working orders.
