You might check out Zone Alarm, which quarinetines any executable
files, .exe, .vbs, .com. You then can choose to open them or not.
Zone Alarm is used mostly as a firewall for your computer, is highly
rated and free. I got it after finding that cable modem connections
were the ones used most by jbots created by hackers to use your
machine.
Side note: I installed the Linksys internet sharing router on my lan,
worked on the first try. That router furnishes some hardware firewall
capabilities.
