Notice what Mark is doing here. If a sine wave (cycle) has a period of
exactly 21 days, a 21 day simple average will filter it out completely
and the output will be a flat line. So, Mark's 21 day average is
removing the monthly options-related swings, which he considers noise
for this study, and leaving the underlying trend.
