I hate to disagreed with you. Some of the best traders I have known where very
brilliant people. They had the ability to work probabilities, standard deviation,
Gamma and overvalued, undervalued in the heads before personal computers even came
into being. Many where professional blackjack players that got banned in Vegas and
Reno. When the first really usable personal computers came out in 1979, they were
purchased, and programed by these individuals, because there were no trading
programs for these computers. Your basic spread sheet, Visicalc, was available and
a basic word processing program, Programma, where available and that was about it
for business. There where a lot of games. The ones that failed where those that
traded by the seat of their pants and instincts. Many failed because they were
programmed to fail from youth. It takes more then brains to be successful in any
field. It is not the most gifted athlete that ends up as one of the greats, it is
the one that is gifted and works hardest and with the greatest dedication, that
walks away with crown. It is the work ethic and discipline that have the greatest
effect after a degree of intelligence and the ability to use the skills that you
have within your level of ability.
