It is not a problem if you set the default font for text messages to
us a fixed-width font such as "Courier New".
If everyone sent plain-text messages composed with a fixed-width font
and used spaces instead of tabs to create columns, the messages would
look exactly the same for everybody and use very little Internet
bandwidth and very little storage on disks. (That is the standard for
text messages.)
HTML messages require very much greater bandwidth and disk storage -
perhaps a factor of ten more with all the junk that is typically
included. And if people view text messages with different
proportional fonts (not fixed-width), messages will look very
different.
This message is composed with a fixed-width font and uses spaces
instead of tabs to create columns. If the columns below do not
precisely line up (decimal points and % in same locations) you are
not viewing the message with the proper defaults set. (The right edge
of each column should all be in exactly the same place horizontally.)
