I came across two very interesting sites in Wired
Magazine today:
http://www.mindfuleye.com
http://www.opion.com
The general idea is this:
Scan web sites, newsgroups, and IRCs for "shifts in
tone and volume that might affect share prices."
Volume in this context means how much gets written.
Then take this ocean of text and run it through some
kind of artificial intelligence engine to spit out
scores, what mindfuleye calls mood scores.
So you get a read of how the mass mood may be
shifting.
Very interesting idea. Check it out.
