I know I won't explain this like a mathematician would, but the vertical
scale on a linear chart is spaced exactly the same between 5 & 10 as it is
between 95 & 100. The logarithmic chart is proportional so that the distance
on the vertical scale between 5 & 10 (a 100% move) is in proportion to a move
from 95 and 100 (a 5% move). The logarithmic chart allows you to compare
similar moves more easily when viewing a number of charts. If you are just
looking a one chart, it probably doesn't make any difference.
You can tell by looking because the left hand vertical scale will be a
proportional scale, i.e., the numbers will not be evenly spaced.
