I think that a significant key to the direction of the Us Equities
Markets is the "M3" money supply data. While it is very difficult to
forecast the "M3", I have found that it has a significant seasonality
component. This can be useful in anticipating changes in the direction of
"M3". The attached gif represents a forecast of the "M3" from March 1998
to March 2002.

The data used for this study is from the Feds H.6 Release:

M3 Money Stock
