Looks like they are here to stay
Whether we like it or not....just like the market continue going on its
merry way whether we are a bear or bull in our analysis, our positions or
personal biases.....after all..we are suppose to be here for the ride!!
Yep, understand its totally repulsive for free market proponents...

USG has oversight working groups for all sorts of national
contingencies. That's their job. Does that make it an evil
conspiracy? Well I guess so if you see government in general as
an evil conspiracy.
Why did the FED come into being? Precisely because of the stock
market crash of 1907 when J. P. Morgan himself played the role of
central banker since we didn't have one at the time.
If one is bearish on a stock or industry, then short it. But don't
expect the USG or populace to sit on their hands and let panic and
illiquidity destroy the markets and economy and make you into a
billionaire because you shorted the entire market hoping for
disaster. Part of the express function of a democratic government
is to help prevent and to ameliorate disasters. One may not
personally like it, but that's the way it is. Most people DO like it
and they DO like the FDA, FEMA, FAA, SEC, DOD, and most of
the rest.
