ZoneAlarm isn't a true firewall, but it does help monitor applications
accessing the internet.  For a true packet filter firewall, check out
ConSeal PC Firewall and BlackIce Defender.  What seems a popular, if not
resource intensive, combination is 1) a packet filter firewall, 2) an
application filter, and 3) an anti-virus/anti-trojan scanner.

With internet security risks increasing weekly, 1) and 3) are now
necessities.
