I'm attaching the program msy2k.exe zipped. It currently works only with
metastock 3.1 format. To run it type on the dos prompt
msy2k <metastock source directory> <mirror copy of metastock source
directory>
after your data collection.
What the program does is maintain another copy of the metastock files in the
directory(mirrored). The difference is all the dates have been offset by 28
years. Other than the year all the dates will have the same date
characteristics, .eg friday, Feb 4th, 2000 twenty eight years ago is friday
Feb 4, 1972. All the dates will match except for the year. All calendar and
trading bars calculations will be IDENTICAL. I've been using this little
trick for more than a year now to simulate plotting to the right in TS4.0 in
realtime.
The program is smart enough to only update the mirror copy with new data.
The time taken to update 1 day of date is almost the same as to update 100
days of data after the initial run.
In cases where you are required to specify holiday files then bring up the
holiday file and change all dates back by 28 years.
