Earl, I know you were at one time with DTN and happy with their service.

I've been with DTN [satellite] now for a year, and just let the contract go
to the second year, even though I'm no longer sitting in front of it (got a
job, sorry to say...) I just can't understand why people stay with DBC, my
prior data provider... DTN is all the difference in the world. They are NOT
perfect... but certainly a far step beyond where I was before.

My DTN link was essentially DOWN for the slow market day of 12/31. I got
spurious updates, but it really did look like something was hosed. I called
up the DTN RealTime tech support... stayed on hold 20 minutes the first
time, thinking "maybe the Satellite link is the problem and everyone is
complaining?" Another call back later got a rep after 2-3 minutes. Very
patient, very helpful. He finally recommended a replacement LNB (the
receiver on the dish), which he shipped out overnight to me. In the
meantime, mysteriously, my feed has come alive again, and I don't have any
urgency to replace the part. Maybe the problem was at DTN, but I never saw
anyone else complain here. Anyway, their responsiveness has been
[ordinarily] outstanding. You would think that DBC would see this kind of
competition and take note.

The annual subscription for all markets [with stocks/indexes in realtime] is
about $110. I also get options and Ensign, and it's US$160/month. If I had
to sign another contract, I would bind them to a month-to-month after the
first year, which DBC used to do... the salesman snookered me on that one
(goes month-to-month after two years, but nothing in writing on that
either). Other than that, I'm one satisfied customer.

I would hope that Jeff Crystal would see these posts and pass along the
"public perspective" about the perpetual discount accorded "Customer
Service" at DBC. If you would do that, Jeff, a great many of us would be
much obliged.
