Just a cautionary note. If you trade index products ....
either options or futures .... there will special closing
procedures on 12/31 and they may not be uniform across
exchanges. It would be VERY VERY wise to visit the web site
of the exchange who's product you trade and the web site of
the exchange that may be providing price discovery so as to
best understand what closing procedures will be in place.
It is also a prime time to revisit the tax treatment ...
mark to market .. issues relating to section 1256
contracts(s & p 500, s & p 100, Nikkei, NDX, etc). In
addition to 1256 issues be cautious about wash sale losses
as well.
Visit the web sites .... mistakes at this time of year can
be really expensive.
