<DIV>the server has performed an "illegal operation", it has added some
very strange symbols to the server, it shows I am only getting 44 symbols when I
have normally about 270 symbols in the portfolio. It is changing the price
scale on some symbols I don't even have in the portfolio. The illegal
operation won't allow the server to be opened. This happens each time I
shut down the server and reboot the computer. I have used this system for
3 yrs and never anything like this.</DIV>

Howard,
Thanks for the 1929 crash story at NY Times web-site. It was really
interesting.
There are a few books worth taking a look at in this connection:
i) Manias, Panics and Crashes by Charles P Kindleberger
(John Wiley Classic)
ii) Crashes by Robert Beckman (published from London)
iii) Extraordinary Popular Delusions & The Madness of Crowds
by Charles McKay (John Wiley Classic)
I feel one should read the above texts, and come to an understanding of the
risks involved at the current market level keeping in mind the frenzy about
net stocks
Enjoy
Rajat K Bose
