Mike, Steve and Mark;

I believe we're all right! You just have to define your
terms. In both 1929 (September 3) and 1987 (August25) the closing
high and the daily high (theoretical) were both on the same day.
This year the closing high (which I calculated from to get 9/9/99 55 days
later) was on July 16. The theoretical interday high on that day
was bested on July 19, and you all are right it yields a date of September
12 if that's the proper starting date. I guess we'll find out the
"rules" for future generations this year if there's a crash on one of the
two days. Look at it as a tie breaker. :-)
BTW our Political/Seasonal Index based on 11 factors (day of the week,
month, presidential term, presidential party, etc.) with a history back
to 1885 on the Dow tops out on September 7.
Good luck

Hi There
Just go to the downloader and then the merge file under tools.
You'll see two boxes appear . click on one box where your first data is
in and then then click on the other data on the second box and then press
the merge box.
I've tried it and it works
