Yes, the only one that actually works is pcfirewall which is available at
http://www.signal9.com but it isn't free. It runs about $40 U.S. The
thread here however is about virii getting into your machine and a firewall
isn't going to stop that from happening. The firewall will prevent, (to a
large degree), denial of service attacks on your internet connection via
icmp, udp and smurf type ping attacks but the only way to get a virus on
your box is to accept a dcc file, download one, or get one in email and run
the .exe. These problems are no greater or less on a cable modem versus a
dial up.
