Finally remembered the name of the individual was one Larry Silberstein
(more or less). As I remember, the stock trading recommendations were based
on an undisclosed methodology which was alleged to be self-adapting (I
believe I referred to it as a black box) and certain claims were made
regarding historical performance. Because the system was self-adapting, the
issue revolved around theoretical versus real-time trading record. Whether
one and the same or not, it is wise to be careful of claims made for
methodologies which are not fully disclosed and/or methodologies which have
been changed over the period for which claims are made and this includes
retraining of artificial intelligence based methodologies.
