Stuart:
I have BMI cable service and could not get any feed into the
new Global Server nor TradeStation (ProSuite 2000i). I was
on the phone with Omega Research for over 3 1/2 hours on
Friday in regards to problems with the BMI feed and the new
TradeStation/Global Server. I spent an additional hour prior
to that with DBC/BMI. The end result was the following:
-- Be sure your current version of BMI's Data Manager was
not
overwritten during the install routine. If it was, the
COM settings
and baud rates were reset (38400 is proper baud for cable
feed and
COM 1 is the preferred setting but will depend on your
system's
setup). Run the BMI MarketCenter Platinum program: if it
receives
data, the Data Manager wasn't overwritten.
Even if it was overwritten and you change the settings
(baud/COM),
you should be able to then receive data into the BMI
MarketCenter
Platinum. If at that point there is no data coming into
the Global
Server . . .
-- There is also the chance the Data Manager may be corrupt.
If it is,
download the BMI MarketCenter Platinum at the www.dbc.com
page and
reinstall the entire package (this will reinstall the
Data Manager).
If you can run MarketCenter Platinum and receive data,
after
reinstalling, you'll be able to receive data into the
Global Server.
FYI: the latest Data Manager is Ver. 4, Build 77
(09/01/98)
-- The new indicators are not the culprit. They don't work
since your
Global Server is not being initialized by the feed.
I had both problems. Once reinstalled, data started
streaming in. The BMI techs told me that there had been
"rumors" around of other problems with their feed and
ProSuite 2000i but couldn't elaborate. While on the phone
with Omega Research there was another call in with an almost
identical problem with BMI feed. The team I was working with
seemed genuinely relieved to have finally pinpointed the
problem. They did make copious notes during our session for
their other techs to reference.
Omega's tech support opens at 9:00 ET and there are actually
5 different numbers you can try. The TradeStation number
never did let me in; I actually got in on the RadarScreen
number. I had to continually redial for what seemed to be an
eternity - just kept hitting my redial button nonstop until
it finally rang! Those 5 numbers:
305-551-9964 -- TradeStation
305-229-1774 -- RadarScreen
305-551-4371 -- OptionStation
305-551-0197 -- SuperCharts
305-551-2378 -- Wall Street Analyst (only after 1:00
ET)
Hopefully this helps out some!
