My turn to spout off:
What beginners don't know is that trading is an art that must be tailored to
one's own personality. It takes years for us to learn this fact
experientially (even those among us who were psychologically astute and
thought we could handle it!) Bill's technique nor Bob's technique will fit
anyone perfectly except for Bill and Bob.
I have some small experience with both of these traders. I bought Bill's book
and actively follow his chart updates, learning his method. I also
corresponded with Bob before Bob had read Bill's book. He seemed to me to be
familiar with all that I found in Bob's book, and he was extremely helpful in
freely sharing indicators and trading ideas. He even recoded a tradestation
indicator so that I could use it with metastock..... So I have found BOTH
Bill and Bob Very helpful to me.
BUT... I do not practice Bill's techniques nor read Bob's commentary to
follow exactly in their footsteps. I had to add my own Twist to their
suggestions to become profitable in daytrading the bonds (profitable at least
for a short time now.) No one's technique will fit any of us perfectly. It's
their art, and we have to develop our own. Unfortunately, it takes us years
to realize this, and no matter how much you tell us when we're newbies about
this fact, we still don't believe it down deep, and we continue to search for
the Holy Grail from someone else. We're not going to change this by calling
people hucksters. Neither Bill nor Bob are selling something that doesn't
work. From my experience of them and their material I believe their
approaches work for them. But don't expect this stuff to work for any of us
without modification!
I very much enjoy the seasoned commentary from both individuals. I learn
another tidbit from each commentary from Bob and each commentary from Bill's
web site. What a great way to learn from people who have made something work
for them. I MUST ONLY REALIZE THAT I AM THE ONE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR MY
TRADING AND MY DEVELOPMENT AS A TRADER!
I've often noticed that people who are really good at something come to
believe their way is the only way. While there is probably alot that is
similar in successfully daytrading the bonds everyone will have their own
unique twist... While track records from these two traders would be very
useful for establishing confidence for the rest of us, the real question is
how our learning from them can aid our development, not whether their methods
fit us like a glove.
I extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to both of you, Bill and Bob, for helping me
discover the type of trading that really fits for me!
Now, I'll get back to trading....
