I can't understand why this is still an issue. I live in Canada. My
ISP is my TV cable company. If you have cable tv or access to it, it is
just a matter of time until the cable co.'s compete with the telco's.
It costs me a low flat rate every month for unlimited access, includes a
high speed modem (50x+ faster than a 56k modem) and doesn't require a
seperate phone line. Just a cable splitter (even that is supplied).
Guaranteed accessability - no technological traffic jams.
In short, it is way better and cheaper. The phone co's rates nosedived
after this was introduced into this market - too late. The cableco has
had difficulty keeping up with the demand. If you don't have it yet,
I'm sure it will be there soon. It is here already in real life.
Let the legislators pass monopoly bills for the telco. It isn't going
to do anything but hurt them in the long run.
