RE: comparing chart analysis software

As of V6.5, there were some trading systems that could not be modeled
with MetaStock, because the system testing language did not support true
variables that maintained their values across evaluations. It's not a
true programming language. In this sense it's much more comparable to
SuperCharts.

It is also difficult, if not impossible, to model systems that require
multiple input's (such as the price of 3 different equities).

TradeStation has a true programming language: EasyLanguage. To take
advantage, you need to learn to program using it. TradeStation has
hundreds of pre-canned indicators and trading systems available (at extra
cost and sometimes dubious value, sometimes great value).

MetaStock has a much nicer user interface, IMO.

That said, as a newbie, you probably can learn a ton before you run out
of capability with MetaStock V6.5. BTW, I don't know why you'd be
interested in MetaStock Professional for end of day analysis. The key
value of the Professional version is its real-time capabilities. You can
get V6.5 from www.wallstreetsoftware.com for $299.

Subject: GEN: comparing chart analysis software

This is my first post as a member of RT... yes, I've got a newbie
question. I would like imput on chart analysis software. I am trying
Trade Station for thirty days. It looks great but is it worth its price?
Does Metastock compare @ less than 1/2 price? How about Excel, can it
compete with TS?
My applications will be analyzing equities for day and intermediate term
trading.

 Thanks in advance!
