Nothing more than what has been publicly posted to the tradelab mailing list and
what's on the web (www.sciapp.com). Essentially, TradeLab is a work in progress
which will probably be ready for use in trading around the same time as
Tradestation 5 and Wow Daytrader Pro (not talking about release dates here but
when the products are reasonably stable). The original TradeLab direction was a
TS/SC add-on with eventual plans to provide standalone quote server. Bob has
been under considerable pressure to make TradeLab independent of TS/SC as there
are many who do no wish to do further business with Omega Research. Bob is
taking a very hard look at the Universal Data Server (used by several products
including WOW Daytrader, WOW Daytrader Pro, and, I suspect, TS5) and this has
delayed the release of the charting modules, which is what most of us are
waiting for. The big attraction for many of us (aside from reasonable pricing
and not doing business with OR) is the ability to use Visual Basic (or other OLE
capable languages) for trading systems development. There are also some very
heavy duty analysis modules which are or will be available.
Big negative is that TradeLab's still under development and none of us can taste
it so we can all imagine that it's everything we want without any negatives.
Positive is that there is a great deal of depth, experience, and existing code
behind the effort. The mailing list has been quiet for a while so Bob can
concentrate on coding, however it would be worth joining the list (see
instructions on home page) just to browse the archives.
