Traders,

Here is the weekly sentiment data:

----------------------------------------------

                LOWRISK.COM

         INVESTOR SENTIMENT SURVEY

                 3 / 16 / 98

------------------------------------------------

Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment survey. The
survey was taken from 3/9 through 3/15 on our web site.

Number of participants: 371

30 day outlook:

33% bullish, 35% last week
31% bearish, 35% last week
35% neutral, 30% last week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

Median guess for the DJIA closing value on Friday, 3/20: 8560 (it was
8587 last week). More complete sentiment data is available at
<http://www.lowrisk.com/sentiment.htm> .

Bullish sentiment dropped slightly this week, from 35% to 33%. Bearish
sentiment dropped a bit more, from 35% to 31%. This left all the gains to
the neutral camp, which picked up 5% to 35%. The DJIA had a small gain of
.3% last week. We usually view a drop in bullishness in our survey along
with a gain in the DJIA as a bullish indicator. But in this case both moves
were pretty slight, so it is hard to come out with a real strong case for
this week. However, the 31% bearish reading is still quite high (though
down from last week) so it is hard to view a major downdraft developing here.

As we noted last week, we have seen that high neutral readings (30%+) tend
to lead to large moves in the next several weeks.

Please stop by to take part in this weeks survey at:
http://www.lowrisk.com/guess.htm
More sentiment data is at: http://www.lowrisk.com/sentiment.htm

best regards,
Jeff Walker
