I do not think there is an "answer" to your question, per se.  There are too
many variables involved (most of them fundamental).  The problem with INTC was
an earnings shortfall (fundamental), yet the stock a while back had a head and
shoulders failure which indicated a solid move to the upside.

Your question involves such variables like the general market sentiment,
institutional holdings, research comments, earnings estimates, etc., and I
could go on and on and on.........!!  If you are looking to buy a stock on a
gap down and play it for a bounce, you best know that stock damn well.  Things
can get very risky because of the uncertainty of the variables, especially the
one we call "emotion."
