Mark:
A good primer on technical analysis is John Murphy's The Visual Investor. This will give you a good foundation.
For general trading, you might also take a look at some of the books on trading rules like Trading Rules, Trading Rules II (both by William Eng), and/or Stock Market Rules (by Sheimo). These will give you a lot of the conventional wisdom of trading. If you see a concept in more than one of these types of books, generally speaking it's a good idea to try and get a good grasp of the concept and why the authors think it's important. Trading is a lot about discipline and if you can understand and follow the disciplines, you've gone a long way toward success.
