GEN - Making a Living

I really do not know anything about Primerica or Edward Jones.

One memory that was conjured up with your message concerned a
conversation with an accountant.

He had a client, a lawyer, whose parents died and left him about $5
million. He continued on with his law work and gave the bulk of the
money to Merrill and allowed them to trade it as he kept tabs. During
that time he educated himself, as best he could, on how to trade the
markets.

After about a year or so he took back half the money and barbelled it.
That is, he took half of what he took back and bought bonds and traded
stocks part-time with the other half.

A year or so after that he took it all back and (as far as I know, the
tale is a few years old) still to this day keeps half in bonds and
trades half. It was at this point, when he started trading the entire
account, that he left law work completely.

So he eased into it, and became very successful as well.
