That is not so. Brokerage houses report "gross proceeds" to the IRS....the
dollar amount of all sales. That amount would include dollars from wash sales
and you must account for it all. If the IRS picks up an unreported wash sale,
you will not go to jail....but you will have problems. My advice would be to
report it all. The problems are not worth it.
