Hal,
There is even the capability to "edit" the palett that is being
used for a given image and you can just change the black to
a more suitable color. If you do so then you had better make
the original white something that will standout on the selected
background.

PSP is a fantastic program. I encourage everyone to go ahead
and pay the reasonable fee for licensed use of this program.
We use it at the office all the time and a companion program
to print tons of images on a 36" wide HP755CM plotter.
I have looked at all the other image programs I could find
and find nothing comparable in the price range.
