Welcome to the golden world of stock trading. In many ways, the problem
you have contacting your broker is the reason both SuperDOT and SOES was
developed after Black Monday in October, 1997. Today, we were able to
place orders on SOES and SuperDOT. Selectnet, Instinet, Bloomberg,
Island, etc were either not working or running behind by 20 to 30
minutes. Since we have a room of full time traders, each one probably
made between 10 to 40 in/out trades today without any real problems.
But the Internet, telephones, etc will never be able to match a trader
who has direct acess to the markets via professional systems.
