shorting

I have traded futures and stocks (long side only on stocks) for many
years. I am now looking to start shorting certain indices and stocks,
currently through the use of put options. You can look at my
recommendations at my web site--home.earthlink.net/~mmangia. You will
see that the recommedations and the currentl portfolio are doing quite
well. Not a solitication, the site is free. I use Edwards/McGee old
fashioned technical analysis, and I analyze 600 stocks and every major
index on a weekly basis (because I work at Reuters access to information
is easy for me.) After 8 years in the business I have found nothing to
work better, and I have read every book and studied every technical
indicator there is. I sell high end equity analytic/technial analyis
packages to large hedge funds/money managers, and extensive amounts of
time series data.
I have a good grasp of what is out there.

What I do is seek out major opportunities using only classic
formations, major breaks, from all 600 charts maybe I will trade 5-10
major's, and with that I have done quite well. Please take a look if
you like.

My question to the group is this. I have because of the raging bull
market been long for most of the time, and now there are major shorting
opportunities coming in many different stocks and indices. coke,
Boeing, United Technologies, Sears, Semiconductor indes, Internet Index
are just a few that were good shorts, and I am short many indices and
stocks now. My problem is that I feel I am not shorting the right put
(not buying the right put).

If any in the group are going to short an index or stock--what is the
best way???? I want to mirror (delta--1) the movement of the index or
stock I am shorting, because my analysis is done off of that chart.

I am interested in selling stock short, is that a better route?
For indices, should I buy puts in the money or out of the money?
Because I am in many issues, does anyone know of a broker that will take
stop/loss orders for short sells and or options??? I am away from the
office a lot and need to protect profits/losses.

Any and all help would be appreciated. thanks very much.

Regards,
Michael Mangiafico
