I don't think that Louis or anyone else has said that fixed fraction MM
will MAXIMIZE your portfoilio's growth rate. On the contrary, if you
believe Ralph Vince (and I have no reason not to), the Optimal f concept
will yield trade quantities that will maximize growth.
The problem in real life is that trading with optimal f makes your hair
turn gray.
I think that what fixed fraction does is provide a disciplined,
systematic way to manage a portfolio that will allow exponential growth
while keeping volatility sane. (assuming a profitable system).
Sure, one can argue that since you don't know the outcome of any given
trade that using a fixed fraction does not maximize profit.
But for most traders (pure system traders especially) this style of
Money management is as prudent as any.(obviously, there are many
variations of fixed fraction MM. I am grouping them all together)
I am actually surprised, given your occupation, that you appear to give
no credence to this form of money management. Although since you have
really said much, maybe I am reading your comments wrong.
Certainly you have read MANY articles and done research on money mgmt
techniques (I don't know if you trade), so what are your thoughts??
If not fixed fraction, then what??
