Walt, I have learned over the years two things, Really know your stocks..
Just a few, maybe 10 and know what makes them tick both up and down..
For me this is like computer software.... Most people rarely know more than
the basic function or any software they use...
Usually it is because they have access to too many programs.. So they learne
just a little to get it up and running, instead of becoming a quasai expert
about just one... When you really know a stock you will generally know how
it will react on news .
So I go long and short in these stocks over and over again.....
I prefer brorkerage stocks because I have personnel insight on how they
operate and they also generally mirror the market... The problem with the
many mergers the selection is getting slim...
Secondly follow the mrkets mood... Adv/Decl line, and New Highs vs New
Lows.. Nothing else...
