clearly written responses to my comment. I don't mean to offend anyone, I
just felt I came into a conversation I had no knowledge of. I am presently
planning out a short selling strategy.. I am from the old paradigm
school. I feel that American
investing or way over-extended, and have no real touch with the stock market. I
am much younger then my 30 plus years investing experience would make you
think. I have been investing since I was 10, and have seen many markets go
years / decades with out making a new high. It seems to me that many/ most
baby boomers which I am mid stream in... are investing everything they can into
this market, assumming it will give them 20 plus percent returns...Then they
seem to borrow on their home equity and credit cards to live on... So I
expect a real bubble burst in the coming months. I spent the last 15 years
in Asia and lived in Tokyo during their heady days.. I really don't see
much of a difference in peoples attitudes..

> I agree with what you said.

I am an agricultural commodity analyst and have a degree in economics.I
don't know much about stocks, but we should be very cautious
if stock market went up a whole lot in a short period of time, since you

have squeezed out a lot of value in a short amount of time.
And nowadays, people keep talking about low inflation;
I wonder if this is relevant. If anyone has time, s/he can check the
wholesale price and the retail price in 1920s. There was no inflation;
price was stable. In certain period of history, there was some
factors that will suppress the price level even if there was credit
expansion. In 1920s, Europe owned huge sum of money to the US
and they exported everything they could in order to repay their debt;
so the living standard in Europe dropped but the price level in the US
was stable even when the Fed had a very loose monetary policy.
In 1990s, Asia, especially China, swamp us with tons of cheap goods;
so our price level, hence inflation, is suppressed; even if there is
credit
expansion. The extent of trouble coming depends on how much loan
from banks should have never been made. Recession can only occur
when companies rush to reduce investment , sell off inventory to repay
bad debt made in the boom time.
