This problem only happens when you crank up 8.1? What happens if you
shut 8.1 down? What processes are responsible for this problem?
Could the problem be TS8.1 trying to download data? I doubt it but
don't know how stout a computer you have. Try this. Reboot. Let the
machine run for a few minutes then hit CTRL ALT Del to bring up the
task manager. Choose the processes tab. Unter the View on the top
menu choose Select Columns. Enable all the ones like Mem Usage, Peak
Mem Usage and any others. I have 'em all enabled. Now click on the
top of the Image Name colume to alphabeticise it. Make a list of all
your running processes. Be sure to scroll down if needed. Now choose
the Performance tab and see how your machine is doing. What is the
CPU Usage? How about the Physical Memory and Kernal Memory. Are they
ok. Not using all the machine's power or anywhere near it. Now open
TS8.1 and go back to the processes tab and re sort the column for mem
usage. Then see which process open up that were not open before. Look
at Mem Usage to see where the hog is. Is it a 8.1 process. Check the
Performance tab again. Is the machine overloaded? If so email
Tradestation and ask them what it is for and why it is killing your
machines performance. If you don't do any good with those idiots ask
for a second level tech.
While you are waiting on them try installing XP again. Do not
download any updates or Service Packs. Then load TS8.1 and see how it
goes and runs. Now add in some SPs and see what happens. Remember
SP2 is mostly security crap so if you don't browse or email on that
machine then maybe you don't need SP2.
Next time you have problems let us know on Friday so you will be
cranked up on Monday and making money to cover our huge fees on this
list.

I know that this list usually focuses on 2000i but I'm at my wit's end with
this particular tradestation 8.1 issue. I'm hoping someone here has some
ideas on how I can fix this so here goes:
I upgraded my first machine to windows xp SP2 and tradestation became
ridiculously slow. I noticed in task manager that the kernel was taking up a
ridiculous amount of time when tradesation was turned on. After trying all
kinds of tweaks - updated drivers, patch updates, virus scans etc, nothing
was working. So, I wiped the machine completely and reinstalled XP2 (with a
brand new harddrive) and tradestation. This did not help. I have updated all
drivers to the most recent version and installed all windows updates after
sp2. no dice.
Is there something that I'm missing about sp2 and tradestation 8.1? Maybe a
switch or a tweak I should know about?
I've
Thanks in advance for all help and suggestions!
