source for Rus 2k 1st trade date

I am trying to find out the first day that the Russell 2000 cash index was
broadcast live. I understand that it was in 1984, but can't find a date.
It's a little tricky, as they reconstructed the index back to the 1970s when
they created it. So data exists prior to its bday. By chance does anyone
have a lead for something like this? I've been in contact with Russell, but
to date have not found anyone willing to research it for me.
