Our featured speaker at this meeting is Murray A. Ruggiero, Jr. His talk is entitled: "Developing
Trading Systems in the 21st Century: A Guide to Developing Trading Systems for Futures and
Equities".
Master system developer, Murray Ruggiero, is well-known in trading circles for his rigorous
approach to developing successful trading systems. President of Ruggiero Associates, he is one of
the world's foremost experts on using intermarket and trend analysis to locate and confirm
developing price moves in the markets. Ruggiero's college degrees in astrophysics and computer
science prepared him for a mathematical approach to neural net and artificial intelligence (AI),
systems development, and he was soon in demand by some of the largest trading houses on Wall
Street.
Featured on CNBC, Business Week, Stocks and Commodities Magazine, Futures Magazine, and many other
trading publications, Ruggiero has written books, including "Cybernetic Trading Strategies.." and
"Traders Secrets: Psychological and Technical Analysis" (with Adrienne Toghraie). He publishes

Additionally, he is vice-president of research and development for Traders Studio, Inc,

applying money management strategies. This software also runs TradeStation® Easy-Language code so
system developers can take existing systems and further refine their concepts in this new
TradersStudio Trading Platform environment.
Murray Ruggiero will review the systems development process, from inception of a trading idea,
through the steps it takes to create a robust, tradable system that succeeds in real-world trading.
Using the software he designed, TradersStudio, he will walk you through the entire process for both
Futures and Equities (Stocks).
On the Futures case study he will cover everything from data selection to developing a valid
premise and testing that premise. Finally, he will discuss how to turn this analysis into a
complete trading system. He will cover cases for both Commodity trend following as well as Stock
Indexes.
He will also discuss the case of developing a system for trading baskets of Stocks using the
NASDAQ-100 Stocks as an example. He will address little-discussed issues such as how
split-adjusted data can produce errors in backtesting results of as much as 400%. He will tell you
how to produce realistic results backtesting a Stock trading system. Murray will develop an equity
system from the ground up and show how to start with a valid premise and develop a finished,
tradable equity system. Finally, he will discuss the often-overlooked area of money management in
equity trading.
