TS 8.1 does not have the ability to scan (RT or EOD) a file or list of
symbols on (in) charts as Workspace Assistant does in TS 2000. To scan a
list of symbols WHILE USING YOUR OWN INDICATORS or CUSTOM ONES, you must
have RadarScreen (RS), which is $60/mo (+$100/mo for the platform (or
$200/mo without an brokerage account)).

I see this as a marketing trick to get another $60 out of you. And TS
does not plan on having scanning on a list of symbols in charts (of
course not, then they would lose that $60 as many people only need EOD
scanning and chart scanning would be satisfactory).

No alert data (information) can be outputted from the message center. It
has to be extracted from RS (or Quote window) and dealt with in Excel,
which I find annoying.

The linking across different windows is nice but somewhat the same thing
can be done with MacroExpress in TS2000. And you do get 1000 symbols,
which in eSignal will cost $100/mo above the base price of $100/mo for
200 symbols. So if you need 1000 symbols TS 8 will be cheaper or more
expensive by about $50/mo depending on if you get an account at TS.

There lots of bells and whistles. Go to the TS web site to run thru some
tutorials. I do not see anything of real value in TS 8 that can not be
done in TS 2000 or TS Pro (maybe needing a $200 addon) .
